I left my work keys at home

I am the assistant director for an Heating and A/C repair dealer.

  • A few weeks ago, the director told myself and others that he was going to be out of town all week and I was going to be responsible to open the shop in the day.

I’ve been toiling the day and evening shift for several years and that is mostly due to the fact that I am not a day person. I find it severely taxing to get up before 9 a.m. and still have a smile on my face. I was cheerful that my boss provided myself and others plenty of time to prepare for the early day hours. Unfortunately, a whole evening of sleep didn’t help myself and others remember to grab the keys to the Heating and A/C repair shop this day. I am not used to having the keys, because I usually come to work in the middle of the day. I drove 30 hours to the Heating and A/C repair shop and after that I remembered that I forgot the keys on the front counter. I drove all the way home. At least I avoided traffic on the way out of the city. Unfortunately, it still took myself and others awhile to get back. Several repair professionals were waiting outside the shop when I finally arrived with the keys to the building. Most of them were not surprised, but a couple of guys were aggravated to sit outside in the cold and wait for me. I got the guys pizza for lunch and that helped ease the tension. I’m going to need to do better tomorrow. I can’t afford to buy lunch everyday because I’m forgetful.
