Shining a light on all kinds of wasted HVAC energy

I’ll never be mistaken for the sort of guy who runs out to get the latest home repair gadget. That has just never been my style. While I have plenty of technology to lean on in my everyday life, a bunch of electric gadgets isn’t one of them. There are many of my friends and colleagues who race around trying to find the very latest thing to take home. It’s like they never left that childhood phase. Eventually, all of those fancy new gadgets end up taking up space in a closet somewhere. I’m more for coming home and putting my feet up in the HVAC. I don’t make time for keeping up on trends or anything like that. But one of my buddies does and it ended up saving me a bunch of money. I have a friend who has a workshop just chock full of every imaginable tool. I was over there not too long ago and picked up a temperature gun. My friend explained how he used it to check his house to be sure it was tight for the winter. The tighter the house, the more HVAC treated air stays inside. That means less work for the HVAC heating method. I asked to borrow it just to see what my situation was. I was stunned to see that my house was a sieve. There was HVAC treated air coming out from all sorts of places. I dutifully marked all those spots and sealed them all up over about a month. I saved nearly 20 percent in HVAC costs the very next month.
