If there is something I have l acquired, is that if you are easily irritated with your task selection, then you should switch to another career, and due to peer pressure and my parent’s expectation, I was originally going to be a dentist.
The only thing is, I suck at math and science, nor am I interested in being a dentist to begin with! Regardless, I decided against my own wishes and went for what my parents wanted. I ended up almost failing with D’s and F’s and I was easily irritated all of the time. I knew I needed to get out of there fast, and so I switched my education to something that sounded much more appealing, being a HVAC worker. To say my parents were pissed, is an understatement. They didn’t talk to myself and others nor did they attempt to understand why I switched schools. It took them years to accept my new career as a HVAC serviceman, even when I graduated from HVAC school as a certified HVAC professional, they did come to my graduation, with their arms crossed and scowls on their face. It genuinely made myself and others doubt myself for awhile, and it was hard to pull through, but now I am toiling at a trusted HVAC dealer, and I couldn’t be any happier, which is what my parents should want to begin with. Even still, the effects of attempting to be a dentist remain, but I have been out of school and in the workforce for years, I am still paying off school debt from my first school, then my parents did eventually accept myself and others as a HVAC tech, but it is never enough for them.
