Don’t put your computer tower on the heated floor

My brother and I chipped in and got our parents a new computer for Hanukah.

They had a computer that is almost 20 years old.

I guess computers last a long time if you only use them to keep up with the grandkids on social media. Well, the 20 year old computer has been having some issues lately so we finally decided it was time to get them a new one. My father insisted that he could hook up the new computer himself and that I didn’t need to hire someone to do it. He hooked up the old computer so I figured he could manage. However, a month after receiving the computer my mom called and said that the new computer had stopped working. That was quick. I called over a computer technician to go fix it. That is when I found out that my parents had placed the computer tower on the floor. This wouldn’t be an issue except that they have heated floors and they like to keep the thermostat set well over 80 degrees. The computer was overheating every time it was turned on. No wonder it didn’t work. I would struggle to work too if I was laying on those heated floors all day. I don’t know how the old computer lasted so long on those heated floors. Thankfully no permanent damage was done to the new computer. The technician moved the tower off of the heated floors and onto the desk. Now the computer is working fine again so my parents can keep up with the grandkids.
